South Pacific

I come from a place
far, far from home
In the middle of what's specific
A cultural embrace
where differences form
against the waves of the South Pacific

Restoring myself with my heritage
Knowing who I am
Coming from the rich in
sovereignty & the knowledge
of being one with my land

I know who I am
I know who I was
Being lost in the foreign seas
That pulled me abroad
when I forced my way out
restoring my identity

This is me
This mist
that surrenders
when I
beckon the chants of my soul

giving me peace
with this war
within myself
& allowing my resistance
to grow

I'm in a place so close to home
in the center of what's specific
Surrounded by faces that mimic my own

Roaming deep
in the South Pacific.

Self

Last night I went into a trance
and the windward breeze took over
I saw the past enhanced
I died once more

What I wouldn't give for one more chance
to show you something better
of all that I've become
of all that I have learned

you're deeper than my love
& stronger than my hate
you're better than the best
You cure my stubborn ways
and I always feel safe
I always feel safe

Today, I long for you
I'm drifting somewhere else
nothing is impossible
i love you more
I love you more
than myself

Drea

"Drea"

If I owned my own land, I'd call her Drea, one step away from a dream...
each climb I fail succeeds at the next & I harvest my fruits from the weeds.

I see hope in the distance & peace in the shadows & roamers and outcasts ascend...turning tears into songs, screams into music & lullabies from pain in the end.

I own my own land & I call her Drea, one step from the sky of my dreams
where I add to her name & forget all the shame & grow into all that is me.
